Opa!

Today, we took a break from the usual routine and went to the 29th annual Greek Festival in Honolulu.
Jordan was hoping to find some authentic Greek people to speak Greek with.
We mostly found drunk white people who wish they were Greek and Asians.
Jordan spoke just as much Chinese as he did Greek. Oh well
This guy looked legit ... but he only knew three Greek words.
He told Jordan that his parents are from Greece, but he is "chop suey" ...
We ate a semi-authentic Gyro.
Jordan said it wasn't greasy enough.

And then we enjoyed watching Greek dancing and listening to Greek music ...
It was a very interesting day.
I think that Jordan left a little disappointed that there wasn't more Greek people to talk to.
The only guy that he found that spoke Greek stopped talking to him after he found out that he was a missionary for the LDS church in Greece (similar to what he experienced daily on his mission). I guess we will just have to travel to Greece to find someone for Jordan to talk to :)

Pleated Upholstery

I love this bench/stool. It started out like this:

And now it looks like this:

I love the pleated upholstery job.

Change in Plans

Well perhaps that rejection was inspired.

Jordan decided awhile ago that he wanted to pursue a Chinese minor so he changed his graduation date from December 2009 to April 2010. Today we found out that BYU-Hawaii does not allow you to extend your graduation date for a minor. Since Jordan will be done with this major he can't stay and just finish his minor. Meaning we will be in Hawaii only 4 more months. Lots to plan and try to prepare for. We have no idea where we will be going. We have thought about it only briefly up to this point, because we thought we had until April to make a decision.
But, we will figure it out.

I am not worried, just excited for the adventure.
and very excited that I only have about 73 more days of work at this job. yes I counted

Miracle

I worked a full day.
More than that, I worked a 10 hour day.
... And I actually stayed busy, thats the Miracle

I usually slip out a few hours early, due to total boredom.
So, I was expecting Jordan to be wondering where I was.
But I came home to this:
Oh the glorious life of a sugar mama.

Ruffled Pillow

Jordan is back in school and he is so busy.
Lots of homework and even more work.
He wakes up early & comes home late.
I'm proud of him for working so hard!

But, I do have to spend a lot of time entertaining myself.
So, One day this week I made a pillow, using this tutorial.

Job Hunting

My job has been something that has really frustrated me from the beginning.
Don't get me wrong I am grateful to have a job, but it's hard when I spend the majority of my time with nothing to do. Shortly after I was hired, BYU-Hawaii began a hiring freeze. Meaning the chances of finding another job in Laie were slim to none. So I've stuck it out ... for almost a year now.

I have been praying for an opportunity to find a new job for months. I would get so frustrated when I didn't get any kind of an answer. So, I feel so blessed that I was able to have two job interviews this week.

I just returned from an interview for an accountant position. They are really looking for someone who has some experience, which I don't. So I am not counting on getting this job.

But I feel so grateful to have some response to my prayers. I know Heavenly Father is looking out for me and knows my needs. Even though I probably won't get this job, I left feeling grateful that I do have a job. No matter how boring it may be.

The other interview went well. So, I am just waiting to hear back.
But I know whatever happens will be for the best. I am definitely learning patience and that things happen on Heavenly Father's time table not ours. I am looking forward to see what he has in store for us!

Hurricane Felicia

So, we have Hurricane Felicia coming our way.
Actually we keep getting told that all we are going to get is some wind and rain.We have been talking about putting together 72-hour kits for a long time.
But never got around to it.
So we decided with a hurricane coming our way, it might be a good time.
So here they are sitting by the door waiting for Felicia.
I am half hoping that she comes. but not really
1. we can actually use or 72-hour kits
2. so work/school will be canceled.

My dog is cooler than yours.

I am actually not a big pet person.
but Lucy is Awesome, there is no denying it.
I miss this chubby, stinky mutt!

Honey, I am Home.

I am back in Hawaii.
I love Idaho, I miss it!
I miss my family!

While we were home we finally got to go to the temple.
It has been such a bummer that the Laie temple is closed.
It was nice to get to go to the temple with Jordan and my parents.
I wish we could go more often.
We went to the Boise temple and reminisced about the day we busted through these doors as Mr. & Mrs. Flake
....it's been about 7 months
Good News: We still love each other.
It is so nice to be with Jordan again!
Not so nice to be back at work. ugh.
But I do have 2 interviews lined up this week! cross your fingers  for me.
