Dear Economy, I hate you ...

Domino magazine, my favorite/the only magazine I LOVED is folding. I subscribed to this magazine from the beginning. It was full of a variety of fun, colorful, funky designs, many that I would never really consider doing, but were so fun to look at. ... I bought the "For Like Ever" poster that was featured on the cover of the magazine in September 2006... it now hangs in our little home. The Folding of the magazine is "driven entirely by the economy" according to the Huffington Post. The last issue of Domino will be in March 2009. However... I still would like to be the proud owner this book:

From The Office of the Tooth Fairy ...

How cool are these tooth fairy kits...found via Oh Happy Day. I wish I had some extra teeth to loose just so I could use one...
If I look like a toothless hillbilly next time you see me, you'll know why.
The Official Tooth Fairy Kit contains one letterpress Certificate of Record for filing with your local Tooth Fairy and one reusable silkscreened cloth deposit bag for your first and all subsequent transactions. The official certificate keeps record of name, age, tooth lost, method of extraction and compensation information.

Anthro Copy Cat

While I was home for Christmas break, my mom and I went downtown to anthropologie. While I was looking around I saw this cute shirt ...
and thought to myself I like that, I could make it. I have thought that many times in my life but never followed through. This time I actually did it ... or at least tried.
Here is the finished product .... Naturally, the anthro one is cuter (i like the bigger bow... I'll do that on the next one) but mine only cost 5 bucks, compared with thirty.... Not too Shabby.

Year of the Ox

This weekend we had the chance to go in to Chinatown and attend the Chinese New Years Parade. We took our friends Justin and Terrence with us. We all had a lot of fun watching the parade. There was so so so many people there, at one point I felt a little claustrophobic... I guess I got little taste of what China is like. (aren't the little chinese kids so cute?)

It is a New Years tradition for the Chinese to feed money to the dancing lions or dragons, it is believed that it will bring you good luck for the rest of the year.
Here's to Good Luck in 2009 ...
Here is some video footage of the Dragon and Lion dancers:

Pig 'n Boots

Saturday morning Jordan went with the Elders Quorum to do a service project at the Stake Farm. One of our ward members owns a pig and has it kept it a cage at the farm. His pig mated with a momma pig not too long ago so there are some pot bellied piglets at the farm and Jordan came home wanting one. He even called his dad and asked what it takes to care for one. While Jordan was at the farm I was doing some laundry. While I was waiting for the laundry to be done I did some online browsing and came across these boots that I really want and think I need to have. (If any of you think you need them too, they can be found (on sale!) at Nordstrom)So we struck up a deal ... Jordan can have his piglet, If I can have my boots. What do you think? Sound fair?

Treasures from Cookie

I was looking at the Cookie Nesting Blog (check it out, they have lots of cool ideas on there) ... I loved the idea of having a large, vintage pull down map (the kind they have at elementary schools) hanging in a little boy's room or office. We don't have an office or a childs room yet but when we do ... It will have a vintage pull down map hanging in it. For those of you who are interested: I searched on eBay for pull down maps and found quite a few options for around 30 bucks ($9.99 + shipping).

Also on the Cookie site a few blog entries featured this poster. I'll probably never buy it, but I liked the quote. It comes in a variety of different colors, It can be found on etsy

Kids Table

Marni just gave me some pictures that she took while she was in Idaho for our wedding. I had so much fun looking through them! I have posted them all Here. Looking through them reminded me of one of my favorite parts of our wedding ... that everything was so casual. We didn't bother doing alot of traditional things like standing in a line, having a cake (we did cupcakes), or making a seating chart for the luncheon ...and Jordan and I ended up sitting at the "kids table" during our luncheon. We had ALOT of fun sitting with my sisters and our Hawaii friends.
We have so many awesome friends from Home and Hawaii that traveled to be with us on our wedding day. Our wedding day was full of so many great memories and it was so fun for us to spend sometime with our dear friends. Thanks for coming guys... We love you.

rain, rain ...

Last week we recieved countless warnings about this BIG storm that would be hitting Laie. We had this flyer posted to our door ... which claims 60 mile per hour winds. In fact all of the public schools and state offices were closed on Friday because they were sure that this storm was going to knock the power out and be huge (I think they just wanted a long weekend)
Well no big storm ever happened but on our way home from work and school we did get caught in a fierce rainstorm. Because of the wind, the rain was coming down sideways. Our entire frontsides were wet ... And our backsides were quite a bit dryer ...

And here we are together, finally home where it is dry. .... and I am pretty sure the rainstorm stopped the second we stepped inside. Typical
Also, as of yesterday we have been married for 1 month! It has been amazing. We celebrated by going to the beach and going to Costco. We also ate a romantic dinner of Hot Dogs at the Costco Fast Food Window. They are cheap for a reason .... I'll never do it again.

MTV Cribs

It may not be the luxurious but we feel really blessed and excited that we get to live in TVA. And we want to give you tour of our new pad.

This is our kitchen.
... and the bathroom.
Here is my cute husband and our living/dining area. We have an awesome surf board coffee table that we made a few semesters ago and we used my sister-in-law Julie's old surf board to create it.  Here is another shot of the living/dining area. Also notice: 1) Our little entertainment stand that Jordan found at a garage sale for $20 and 2) My awesome new purse
And ... here is our bedroom
Its quaint, but we love it. It has been so much fun to get back to Hawaii and get all settled in our new home.
P.S. If after taking the tour of our pad you are thinking that we live in a dump ... just remember you currently are waist deep in snow and we are playing at the beach!
