Meet My Next Project

So I haven't blogged in awhile.
But, we are still alive.
Jordan is busy as ever with classes and the newspaper.
I am busy pretending to be busy at work.

But last night I did go shopping with a friend and noticed this pillow on display at Macy's
I checked the price tag and it was 70 bucks, on sale for 50
So I think it's time I try to sew another pillow.
Meet my next project:
Ps. It is way cuter in person

Oh Happy Day.

Today is Jordan's last first day of school... Well until grad school.
Only 3 months 'til he is a college grad!
Hopefully the time will fly.

Photos by LeeYen

Meet LeeYen.
She is adorable.
She is a great photographer.
We both like to drag home furniture from the dumpster or side of the road.
She asked if I could help her make some cushions for one of her finds.
And in return ... she took these beautiful photos for us.

Thanks LeeYen.
You're the best, We love them.

Wet n' Wild

Saturday was the best day of my life!
Well, maybe not the best ... but it was really, really fun!
We became Wet n' Wild season pass holders

They have this deal going where you can get a season pass from now til the end of the year for $29.99 and a day pass is $35... so we had to do it. I cannot wait to go back! After the park we grabbed from Fro-Yo at Menchies
Jordan got a little carried away ...

And then we drove up the west side, and caught a beautiful sunset

Dear Hawaii Friends, You should all join us in getting season passes. It's totally worth it, you won't regret it!

Suitcase Table

Isn't this a neat idea?
Naturally, it was found at Anthropologie.
But it would be so easy to turn an old suit case into a side table or nightstand.
I love it!
The best part about this project is we already have a small collection of old suitcases waiting for us in Idaho.
I am already itching to get started on projects for our new abode (location: TBD)

Party Time!

Jordan is taking his finals today.
Meaning it's party time, until next Thursday when school starts again.
Can't wait to hit the beach!

Recipes

While I was home I got this vintage recipe tin for 10 cents at a yard sale.
I loved it and couldn't beat the price.
The only problem is all my recipes are in books or in my brain, not on cards.
So, my cute tin has sat empty for a couple months.
While I was sick this weekend I worked on typing up some recipes on to cards, so I could put my tin to use.
I used a recipe card template that I downloaded for free from somewhere.
I can't find it again, but if you'd like it, leave your address and i'll email the PDF to you.

Labor Day

Our Labor Day was weird.
First I went to work and interviewed my possible replacement.
Second we went to a ward activity.
Well, the end of it.
Hundreds of dollars were spent on the meat for this activity.
It was a true Hawaiian BBQ.
Rice, Mac Salad, and tons of meat.
Afterwards, Jordan went to the Library to study.
I thought that was a stupid activity, hello its a holiday.
I thought he should have spent it with me.
I realize he was being practical, but I didn't want to spend my holiday alone.
I thought we were going to spend every waking moment together.
So I pouted.
I drove my self to the mall, hoping to find some retail therapy.
Nothing.
So I drove back, still pouting.
Then I met up with some friends at the beach.
That helped my attitude a little.
And finally Jordan and I met up at the beach for a minute or two
Then we went home.
I helped Jordan with some accounting homework.
And that was mostly it.
Pretty much a normal day.
It was mediocre at best.
But what we were really supposed to celebrate on Labor Day?
Some say the end of summer.
Frankly, that's no party I want to be involved in.

Disaster Zone Part II

A few months ago, I fell in love with this pillow.
But it was way out of my price range ... so I thought I'd try my hand at making it.
I turned my house into a total disaster zone and then gave up.
After visiting Anthropologie and seeing the pillow in person, my love was renewed.
So, I turned our house into an even bigger disaster zone but this time I finished!
After the huge mess, 20+ hours of work, and lots of frustration I now know why they charge $88 for it.

da bus

riding da bus in Hawaii may become slightly more pleasant ...

Honolulu Seeks to Fine Bus Riders With Body Odor
HONOLULU — Stinky city bus riders soon could get soaked. The Honolulu City Council is considering a bill that would impose up to a $500 fine and/or up to six months in jail for public transit passengers convicted of being too smelly.
The bill will be heard Thursday in committee. It would make it illegal to have "odors that unreasonably disturb others or interfere with their use of the transit system."
It doesn't matter if it's
body odor or offensive fumes that emanates from clothes, personal belongings or animals.
Councilmen Rod Tam and Nestor Garcia co-sponsored the anti-odor bill.
The American Civil Liberties Union of
Hawaii says it is concerned with laws that are inherently vague, which opens the door to discriminatory enforcement based on an officer's individual prejudices.

zzzzzz ....

You know you live in close quarters when you can hear your neighbor, snoring all night long.
... living in TVA is such a joy.
