For a long time, the only furniture we had in our living room was this awesome couch & a not so cute, but comfortable wing back chair & ottoman that we got from my parents neighbors.
but mostly it's for looks.
It is seriously old, somewhat fragile, and not very comfortable.
So we would spend most of our time sitting on the wing back chair & ottoman.
Originally, I had big plans to reupholster the wing back (and I still do).
But because it became our favorite place to relax, read, watch TV, etc.
I was reluctant to try reupholstering it
That's when we found this chair at goodwill for $12

I thought it would be a good to practice my "skills" (or lack thereof) on
And for some reason I thought it was a good idea to do striped fabric (it wasn't)
do you know how much time it takes to match striped fabric?
too much.
But I am crazy, and I did it/attempted to do it.
Sewed the piping and the arms, cut out all the pieces.
Left our house trashed for weeks.
Made a mistake and had to sew three arms and throw one out.
Just when I thought I had all the sewing done ... one side didn't fit right.
So I threw a temper tantrum.
Seriously.
But, now that the chair and I have spent some time apart.
I am going to take a deep breath, take the chair out of time out, pick up the pieces and try, try again.
And maybe (thats a big maybe) one day we will be kickin' back in a pretty striped chair ...

P.S. if you are concerned about our lack of comfortable seating, don't be ... we found a sweet deal at on a nearly new Crate & Barrel sofa, at a garage sale and we LOVE it!

hey if you want a couch and loveseat to match that chair, you can have ours!
Meagan, sometimes I wish you lived next door to me, and we were best friends. You come up with the coolest things!
I know the feeling when things don't work the way I was expecting them to. I think it's gonna look great though! I can't wait to see it.
