Our New Couch ... She's a Beauty!

My whole childhood my mom was all about buying things from yard sales or second hand stores and making them her own, so I thought she would be totally on board when I brought up this project, but it took some convincing ... she was concerned that she would catch swine flu from a couch?!?

I told her to quit being paranoid, if she was going to get swine flu it was going to be from the snot nose brats she teaches math to ... so she finally agreed and this beauty of a couch was mine. My dad and I drove out to the MIDDLE OF NO WHERE, gave the man $25 and brought her home. And many hours later and lots of help from Dad and Mom, she now looks like this: I still need to add the trim (it will cover all the staples) but you get the idea!
I LOVE IT ... I think shes a beauty, I am so excited to get to use it, but until then my mom has graciously offered to keep the couch in her house until we move to the mainland.
Mom & Dad, Thanks for all your help and letting me come home and visit! SLY

That looks so amazing. I wish I knew how to do stuff like that. If there are any great books out there on learning how, let me know.

I bought that exact same couch on craigslist last year and it is still waiting to be recovered. I'm still looking for the "right" fabric.

Any good tips you want to share?
How much fabric did you end up needing?

Thanks for sharing!
