Dad & Natalie come to town [4.18-4.22]
My Mom is on a bowling league with her fellow math teachers and she had a bowling tournament in Reno two weekends ago. So I convinced my Dad to come down and visit us while she was away bowling. When Natalie caught wind of what was going on she arranged to come down too. Unfortunately, Milo and I caught colds just before they came but we still managed to have a action packed weekend! Friday we picked my Dad up from the airport and headed straight for the LA Zoo. We had a good time checking out the animals, but it was so dang hot so we came home and swam in the pool. Saturday we did another marathon Disneyland day. We got to the park when it opened and had a ton of fun hitting all of the attractions in California Adventure. Natalie & Dad had never been so it was fun to ride the rides with them for their first time, I especially loved Tower of Terror. Then we headed over to Disneyland and partied some more. We decided to watch the firework show and we squeezed into the large pack of people and found what we thought was going to be a perfect place to stand. We had a great view of the castle, then the firework show started and we realized a stupid tree blocked literally the exact space of where there fireworks were going off. It was hilarious. Sunday we visited the Getty Museum, which is huge, a beautiful building and a beautiful view of LA. I didn't see much of the exhibits because both Milo and I were cranky, tired, and not feeling well... for some reason, museum go-ers don't appreciate crying toddlers. I am sure we will go back another day. After the museum, Milo fell asleep the second we put him in his car seat and we headed to the LA Temple. We walked around the grounds and then stopped into the visitor center. The senior couple who welcomed us, happened to be from Boise and had been in our ward when we were growing up, so my Dad had fun visiting with Elder Chandler. Then we headed down to Santa Monica to check out the beach and the pier. Milo woke up cranky but perked up when Grandpa promised him an ice cream cone. Which he enjoyed every last drop! On Monday we had planned to go to the observatory but I didn't realize it was closed on Mondays oops! so we hiked part of the Mt. Hollywood hike, checked out the observatory grounds, headed to Travel Town, out to lunch at CPK ... then we headed to the airport and sent them on Dad & Natalie on their way. It was a great visit, I wish that Milo and I wouldn't have had colds, but we still had a blast. Can't wait for Mom to come down now!
